It would appear the millennial generation is in for a hard ride later in life and what is more shocking, we as parents have to take the blame.
The clever guys who can predict all manner of stuff (except lottery numbers) have forecast that indifferent parenting skills has left a legacy where millennials are predominately unable to cope with normal adult living. They appear to be around 15 years behind schedule. A combination of over parenting, greater length of education that now includes university and the obligatory gap year has left the guys without the gumption to get things sorted.
Tap in the effects of fast food diets etc., which is to result in a predominately obese generation. Add financial pressures that has a resulted in a have generation ( bank of Mum and Dad) where their every need arrives on a gift plate versus the have-not generation who could never afford to own their own house. Then the inheritance gang who are more than is healthy totally relying on the cash coming from the demise of their parents to put things right, or provide them with a lifestyle that is their birthright.
It all presents a society that will have an uneven skew. We could have the situation where the hard working senior manager lives in rented accommodation and buses to work whilst a lower skilled worker lives in a mansion and travels in a Mercedes and enjoys exotic holidays (when Covid-19 recedes). But even then it gets worse. Life choices have established a generation that is predicted to be in poorer health than their parents at the same age, and with lower life expectancy. And as parents it’s all our fault.
