The Invisible Enemy

To prevent this wretched virus form spreading the UK is in various levels of lock down. The higher the risk the greater the controls. But ironically this basic logic is misunderstood. The guys in tier 4 are running to the hills taking the virus with them. Christmas is all but cancelled because overall we can’t be trusted to behave.

Rules, regulations and restrictions are always difficult to administer. Someone always knows better, has a human rights issue or believes rules do not apply to them.

If only this Covid virus was visible. If it had a nasty smell, hovered in bright green clouds, made door handles glow purple and work surfaces really sticky we could deal with it. This potentially lethal infection could then be ‘seen’ and avoided. Instead it is invisible and none of our five senses are aroused. Common sense also lies dormant. It is the killer in many a horror story which gets you on the edge of your seat as the numpty edges unwittingly into the danger zone.

Maybe we could use a defence mechanism that produces vast clouds of bright green smoke that lingers for hours. This could be spread around urban areas to warn off transgressions. We could all be fitted with tasers that fire if anyone approaches within the social distancing gaps, surveillance cameras that trigger whenever someone is not wearing a mask.

This all sounds a bit big brother and will infringe our freedom. We can safely rely on the need to willingly follow the rules. That’s working just fine isn’t it!

The meandering thoughts of someone with too much time on his hands. Tending to see the obscure and irrelevant in most events I have been forced to record this by family members as a means of diverting attention away from them. But I see their plan.
